things

I have always kept a journal. Ever since third grade I’ve had one and they’re all in a box at home in Medfield. I get really embarrassed and pink-cheeked when I read them. No, I will never share them with you.
But I remember getting these ideas and just dying to write them down. And when I would travel there was never a time in which I wasn’t observing and writing and secretly spying on people so I could write about them. The blog has now become my childhood journal and every day, I kid you not, my mind reels with things to tell you and pictures to take and potential ideas and designs. Last night I was up tossing and turning and writing this in my head. Our scary staircase was the only thing keeping me from getting up and writing it then.
Now. This was a long preface to a point, but the only thing I have thought more about than the blog these past few days has been this dessert.
Joj (best Aunt in the world) told me about them on Skype (“They’re healthy! And easy!”) and so I made a bunch. And then after I tasted them I started having conversations with the fridge. About how I wasn’t really hungry, I was just too wrapped up in the chocolateyness and that if I had another that would defeat the purpose of them being healthy. And how they were evil and tempting me! Then, I couldn’t wait for lunch to be over so I could have another one. I may have a problem.
Please make them and tell me if they’re really all that, or if I’m just going through a phase. Thank you :)

Oatmeal-Choco Balls
1/4 cup chocolate chips (I used a dark chocolate bar chopped up)
2 tablespoons milk
2 tablespoons peanut butter (I didn’t have any, so I just used more chocolate)
3/4 cup rolled oats
-Melt the chocolate, milk and peanut butter. Stir on the oats and form into balls. This will be messy. Refrigerate at least 10 minutes before eating. Keep refrigerated if you don’t eat them all in one sitting like I did.

  1. I had journals also Marissa, two of them from my something like 8 years old to 18 I think? I kept the one from when I was 8 to maybe 15, but the 16 through 18 I threw away a few years ago... it was too embarrassing to have in the world I think. :) But I do remember how very cathartic it was to unleash emotions and thoughts onto them.

The recipe looks right at my speed and quite delicious! Will definitely have to try...
