When the temperatures drop, all I want to do is curl up in my UMass sweatshirt and let every regimen, beauty and otherwise, fall by the wayside. This year however I’m determined to stick to my winter beauty tips, to feel beautiful from the inside out, until the frost melts and the sun comes out again! Here are some tips for you, because we're in this together you know!
1. Move. Yoga, Pilates, Zumba, taking the stairs, anything. Moving will keep your circulation flowing and help you to maintain a helahty immune system throughout the winter. It will give you more energy and help you get that healthy rosy glow back to your cheeks! Check out the Lululemon blog for motivation!
2. C! Get as much vitamin C as possible in your diet and you won’t get sick. Frozen berries have up to 29 mg of vitamin C in them, so here’s a frozen berry smoothie you can make for breakfast or a midday snack.
3. Hydrate. It’s rule #1. My new favorite tea is Egyptian Licorice by Yogi Tea. It tastes like dessert. (Thanks Zo!)
4. Protect. Your skin needs an extra slathering of lotion when you get out of the shower in winter, and this Almond Cookie Shea Souffle sounds like it would be ah-maz-ing..
5. Warm up. My theory is that if your feet are warm, your whole body is warm. (Same goes for your head!)
6. Balm. My favorite beauty product of all time, probably: Blistex Deep Conditioning Treatment. I have at least two around at all times.
1. My new favorite volume-pumping mascara: Maybelline Volum' Express
2. A super fun color to brighten up dreary, black outfits: Fresh Faces Minerals eyeshadow
3. We need a little extra glow in the winter don't you think?: Nars Highlighting Blush
4. THE best wintry Snow-White-Red: MAC lipstick in Ruby Woo
5. Holy Holiday Party is this awesome polish! Butter London in Chancer
6. You'll sparkle like snow on a sunny day with this shadow: Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Eyeshadow

1. A tip from fellow curly girl Barbara: Coat hair with some good olive oil, and leave it in for 30 minutes. Rinse out for super moisturized locks!
2. Something every girl does here in the winter is smooth on Sweet Almond Oil after the shower. It keeps your skin so silky smooth!
3. Florentine Rose Water saved my skin from winter breakouts last year and kept my cheeks smelling freshly floral all day long!
4. Italian girls love their dark eyeliner, especially in the months where you'll find them in all-black.

...and maybe we can follow each others!?
hmm let's see...I have dry skin all year long, so my routine doesn't change much in the colder months (which we don't really have here in south texas). For the body I love Eucerine lotion, it's the best moisturizer I found until now. For my face I'm using Dramaticly Moisturizer Gel from Clinique, with some Clinique Moisture Surge on my T-zone. For my hair I'm doing a Keratine infusion therapy right now. It was damaged from the sun and chlorine of last summer. For the eyes I'm using Maybeline eye brightener, Benefit eye brightener pencil, and a light colored eyeshadow.
ReplyDeleteLoving your tips too!
Read on your twitter you'd like a Sephora gift card? Come and check my blog on Thursday for my giveaway :))

Oooh I'll have to try that olive oil trick for my hair! Winter is so unkind to my skin. I recently discovered the best secret to keeping my skin soft - DIRT sugar & vanilla scrub. It is the best! Smells so delicious that sometimes I secretly want to eat it! Ha! I'm inspired to post about my daily beauty regiment, maybe one day later this week. Love this!

ReplyDeleteThat Butter London polish is definitely going on my wish list! What a fun link up. And totally agree about keeping the feet warm — I feel like I could brave winter with a tank top and shorts as long as my feet are toasty.

Hey Marissa! I have one more italian tip for you: Marvis toothpaste. Made in Florence with a cool classic design, a lot of different tastes, and different colors to match your bathroom : ) Here I buy it in OVS or Coin (don't remember which) or a luxurious shaving products store for men.
ReplyDeleteSolid shampoos work perfectly, once you find the right way to use it. I hang it where water can't reach it and on a small sponge to make it stay dry. Make you hair wet, pass the shampoo on your hair 3-4 times and don't put the shampoo under water but directly on it's drying spot. Lush shampoos can be used for six months (I have short hair) and they smell like heaven!
My self defense course does not make me want to punch people. I decided to do it because I show a finger too often on my bike and come back home often alone at late hours, so I'd like to be ready when attacked. But we have another member (it's an all women course) and she said she wants to punch people and she needs to know how to do it right. And that's why we do the emotional course, too. You know, with more power, comes more responsibility!
Oh my goodness, what a fantastic tips. Im going right now to get that tea and I totally need to try that rose water! Have a wonderful day, sunshine. It's freezing here...:)
ReplyDeletelOVE this post so much! It's so pretty too! I'll definitely link up with my next post. I absolutely love Butter London nail polishes (and Priti NYC.) I cannot wait to place my order for the rose water and some other men stuff for my husband's St. Nick stocking! I currently use a rose water from Mt. Rose Herbs, but I want to try the Italian one!
ReplyDeleteI love cream blushes (year round), but especially in the winter! Korres has great body butters for winter time too, but I'm going to order the almond oil and try that too! Thanks for the tips! xx
That butter london red polish looks like the absolute perfect shade of red! So rich! I love it!
ReplyDeleteExcellent tips for winter skin and health.
ReplyDeleteI have vitamin C daily. An apple or grapefruit.
I agree - one must move. I walk daily, ride horses, and dance ballet;-)
Have a nice weekend, too.
ooh rose water! that is a good idea :) happy week to you!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I do love my black eye liner! And rose water is fabulous year-round, I use it as a toner, alternating it with another spray containing with Himalayan salt and goji berries.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the reminder, I am just getting over the flu, which I got because I was stressed and I am having trouble getting over it because... I need to remember to take care of myself as well!
Lovely post, I will keep it open so I look at it daily for the rest of the week :-)
