Buon giorno, friends! After a long, bitter cold spell, the sun has come out and today Barletta is absolutely resplendent! (Finally, I can do laundry! In the land of no dryers, the sun is crucial to laundry efficiency.) I'm sitting in my favorite cafè, cappuccino steaming next to me, with its friend the apricot jam croissant. I'm making some changes to the boot's pages and breathing in the sweet smell of spring as it wafts in the open window. Oh, and I'm also dreaming about pickles and mustard: two things that my poor, American palette misses like crazy! I have a precious jar of spicy honey mustard that I ration out, and it's almost finished. That will be a sad day, I tell you.
Hope it's a great Saturday, wherever in the world you are.
The sun is finally back in Malta too, and I smiled when I read your comment about laundry efficiency. So true. Ah, pickles! Such a funny thing to miss, but I do too, especially sour deli-style dills. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about missing certain foods. I soooo miss garlic dilled pickles! They do have dilled pickles here in Malta but they are NOT the same and I'm not a fan. Though we do have a few different kinds of spicey mustards :) I also REALLY miss bagels. Mmmm. I pigged out on them whenever we travel lol
ReplyDeleteAhhh---sounds like a fabulous day! I think I am heading out to a local coffee shop to sit outside and pretend I am Italian. ;) Ill eat a pickle in your honor. :) Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeletewhat kind of pickles and mustard do you like?! i can send you a package :) i am glad the sun has finally come out! xoxo jillian:: cornflake dreams
ReplyDeletesometimes I just really want your life. Oh to live in Italy ;)
ReplyDeleteI just love me some pickles! When I had braises and had to get them tightened and wanted a pickle, I would just drink the juice. Yeah, I was that girl. On the other hand, no matter what I do mustard makes me gag, I don't know why, but it does. Hope we can still be friends, lol!
ReplyDeleteYes! The sun! I'm so excited for it's return! It's been absolutely freezing in Provence as well and consequently, my house has looked like a Chinese laundry some days with clothes draped over radiators (not exactly the look I've been going for) and yesterday I was finally able to hang the clothes outside! It's a little ridiculous how happy that has made me :)
ReplyDeleteOh I love pickles! Want a pickle and mustard filled care package? Let me know, I'd be happy to send you some! Our Saturday was wonderful - it got up to 60 degrees...and today it is snowing :) xoxo, eliza
