We've had some pretty memorable Manu moments these past summer visits. Like the time he ate eggs and bacon every day for a week. Or the time he drank Half & Half because he thought it was milk. Or the time he had his first hot dog (see crazy-faced photo) and freaked out. Or the time I dragged him to the historical revolutionary war museum in Concord and we realized he had a British flag t-shirt on. Or the time he kissed some guy's hand at a bar (because Italians do that kind of thing.) Or the time he told me, on his way to the airport to go back to Italy, "I can't wait for next summer."
I love that you love America, Manu, and I can't wait to see you in ten days!

So cute!
ReplyDeleteI even felt a bit of that bringing my husband to my hometown/province for the first time - I can only imagine what it would be like having a foreign partner!
yes, i think it still applies! :) showing your hometown is always special.
ReplyDeletetoo cute :) Jon, as an Englishman, has a funny relationship with America. When we walked the Freedom Trail in Boston, he made fun of everything - "look, there's a freedom tree! and a freedom street lamp!" But he loves it, too, and it's wondeful to watch him discover things he's only read about or seen on TV. have a GREAT visit, Manu!
ReplyDeletehow exciting to have your man on your turf with you! i hope you have a wonderful visit!
ReplyDeleteFinal countdown!! Can't wait to have some more fun times with Manu to add to the list:)
ReplyDeletei can see that! with the whole revolutionary war thing...haha! that's awesome that he loves it! thanks betsy!
ReplyDeletei know, i can't wait! thank you erin!

So sweet!!! I love that he loves the squirrels--and that he missed a man's hand once at a bar in America. So endearing. So excited for you!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to here that my bf's parents aren't the only ones who take photos of squirrels...them begin French and all. Squirrels are just nothing special when you grow up with them being always around, literally! And Manu's first hot dog was when he visited the U.S.? They are so good! I hope he enjoys more when he goes back.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe Manu is real, he's such a character! Is like you're telling me about a movie ;)
ReplyDeleteEeeeeeeps! I love this post!
ReplyDeleteI can't help laughing right now because my husband has been to the States three times so the next time will be his fourth, and he is OBSESSED with squirrels! He chased one all around Boston Common snapping photos of it (people were staring) and at my Mom's house in Texas, he spent loads of time staring at this one that always hangs out on her patio. He did it so much that sometimes my mother will call and say, "Tell Gregory his friend is swinging from the potted plant... Tell Gregory that his friend is running up and down the trees" It's pretty ridiculous.
ReplyDeletehahaha gregory's friend! we've had a bunch of manu's friends visit throughout the years as well and when they see the squirrels they freak! i love it. we also have deer, forget about it when they see the deer!
ReplyDeletehahaha thanks meagan!
ReplyDeletehahahahha so true gaby!
ReplyDeleteeuropeans in general i'm finding just love seeing squirrels! manu even impersonates them. :) and yes, he will definitely have more hot dogs when he gets here!
ReplyDeletehaha i love that one too. pure joy! thanks jenna!
ReplyDeletei know! we were like, "why are people looking at you?" :)
