quattro!

I can’t believe I forgot to mention it, but last month the boot turned four.

It feels simultaneously like forever and yesterday when I wrote my first post that August 9th, sitting at a desk in Manu’s parents’ old apartment in my bathing suit. These four years would never have been possible if it weren’t for you. (Bloggers say things like that often, but it’s true.) Your support, your compliments (let’s be honest), your suggestions on how to improve and your genuine comments are what keep me motivated to create, to photograph, to write and to stay with it. I never thought for a second that I would still be blogging four years later, and I couldn’t be happier. 

I'll tell you why I'm still here, though, four years later. Because I am so in love with Italy. How I felt four years ago when I arrived hasn't changed, and I still greet each day with that childlike enthusiasm for it all. This diary entry from 2007 sums up why I blog, and why I haven’t stopped:

“I’m so contentissima. I’ve got espresso warm and delish in my stomaco, amore in my heart, Italian all around me, Italians and their music in my soul, their food, aperitivo, crostini, laughs...I never want to leave.” February, 2007
