Step 1: Find two friends you like, buy some ingredients and make sure it's raining.
Step 2: Make a really good whole wheat dough.
Step 3: While it rises, watch an episode of Downton.
Step 4: Roast some yellow peppers and cherry tomatoes in a hot oven (400 degrees) until soft.Step 5: Stretch out the dough. Place your pan in the hot oven to get warmed up like a pizza stone.
Step 6: Top dough with cubes of mozzarella, freshly torn spinach, the roasted tomatoes and peppers, a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Remark at the beauty of this step. Put pizza (gingerly) on super hot pan in oven and bake until golden underneath and bubbly on top.
Step 7: Rejoice! Say you're only going to have one piece and then have four.

Yum, now that's a pizza!

ReplyDeleteI'm nodding my head right along as I read each step (especially the Downton part) because it looks so GOOD! What type of flour do you use for your dough?
ReplyDeleteah, i love a little rain every once in a while (for baking purposes). let me know how it comes out! :)
ReplyDeletethanks c! it was so delish! how was your europe trip?
ReplyDeleteyes! the torn spinach is my new favorite pizza topping!

Looks fantabulous! But I missed the magical incantation to levitate the freshly assembled pizza onto the screaming hot pan. How do you not end up with a calzone instead? Or am I just spastic?
ReplyDeletehaha! do it up! let me know how it goes! :)
ReplyDeleteWELL. that was interesting because we had it all nice on the parchment and then lifting it up to put on the sheet pan was a two-man job! just hold it nice and taut on the ends and it should slide on nicely. make sure there's extra flour or even cornmeal on the bottom to help it slide!
ReplyDeleteyum! what a fun thing to do on a rainy day! james is trying to master the art of the super thin, crunchy crust in a conventional oven... so far the bottom of a cast iron pan works the best!
ReplyDeleteDo you leave the parchment under it for baking? I'm being a pest, but yours looks so much better than our local pie. And I'm a little obsessive. Certainly someone else wants ALL the details, yes? (grazie mille!)
ReplyDeletehaha, no worries at all! i think we baked it on the parchment but you can do it without if you have some cornmeal to spread on the bottom of your surface so the pizza doesn't stick!
ReplyDeletethin and crispy is how we get it in italy! ooh, now i need a cast iron!
ReplyDeleteHomemade pizza AND Downton Abbey - it's like we were meant to be best friends!
ReplyDeletehaha! that's so cute rooth! we're meant to be!
ReplyDeleteSay you're only going to have one piece and then have four.
ReplyDeleteStory of my life. :) That is one delicious looking pizza!
