the latest

Well, my summer vacation has come to a close, friends, and in only nine days I'll be heading back to Barletta to begin another year in the city I've come to call my second home. Every year I look back and think about how I've grown so much, how this year will be unlike the last, and how so many changes lay before me. This year more than others.

We're moving into a new apartment, still undetermined, but Manu is out on the hunt sending me countless videos of places he's checked out and referrals to "people he knows who can find us something." In Italy it's all about who you know sometimes. It will be great to finally have closet space and, not to mention, heat.

My job as private English teacher is going to be busy, as I've had numerous requests for the new school year, on top of the old students who want to add hours on. I admit to having taken this job for granted in the past, but I feel a motivation unlike ever before to be the best teacher I can possibly be, to shape their little lives and to give them (at the very least) an appreciation for the language. My second job as Zumba instructor is hilarious and awesome; I still can't believe I get paid to teach fun Italian girls How to Dougie.

Oh yeah, and we're getting married this year. Twice. No big deal or anything.

I'm going to need a bigger planner.

I had no clue you taught English. How wonderful! I bet they just love you.

  2. I taught private English classes while in Gabon (I'm a trained teacher) and I totally took it for granted. I used to sort of dread the classes (mostly because they interfered with my coffee schedule) but I had so much fun with those kids. It's a lot of work to keep it interesting especially when I only saw them an hour a week ( so much repetition) but fun nonetheless!
